Mémoire d'Écran
Laser engraving on boning computer screen, variable dimensions
2022

"Mémoire d'écran" is a piece that invites us to explore the links between technology, memory and perception. Laser etchings on boneless computer screens create a strange, almost invisible visual, as if the images were an afterglow of memories captured by the screen itself.
This work highlights the fact that our memories are often linked to the objects that surround us. Computer screens have become an indispensable part of our daily lives, capturing precious moments, ideas and thoughts. But what happens when we think about what the emotional memory of a screen would be, and whether it had any form of consciousness or perception.
Screens have their own history, their own emotional memory, so what would their emotions be?
Perhaps they would feel satisfaction when used, or sadness when abandoned. Maybe they'd feel curiosity about their user, or frustration at their own limitation.

Based on the hypothesis that machines have consciousness and perception that enable them to feel emotions. "Mémoire d'écran" invites us to question the nature of consciousness, identity and transhumanism. The images of exoskeletons and robot dogs etched on computer screens are like witnesses to an era in which technology is becoming increasingly omnipresent in our daily lives. Screens have an emotional influence on people, depending on how they are used and perceived. Ultimately, this piece invites us to reflect on our own relationship with technology and the emotions we associate with technological objects such as screens.
